Spring Wildflower Hike
Sunday, May 20, 1-2:00 pm at the Rib Mountain Concession Stand
The Friends of Rib Mountain State Park invite the public to explore springtime’s glory at Rib Mountain State Park at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 20. Led by Karen Graf, a long time Park volunteer, who will be accompanied by an area Master Gardener, this moderate to strenuous hike will last for approximately an hour. You should be prepared to hike some uneven trails, bring water, and use tick prevention.
The hike will begin at the Friends Rib Mountain State Park Concession Stand near the observation tower. If the weather is questionable the day of the hike, call 715-842-2522 for up-to-date information.
History of Rib Mountain Geology
Thursday, June 14, 6 – 7:00 pm at the Park Amphitheater
Dr. Keith Montgomery, geography professor and campus Dean at UW Marathon County will talk about the geologic history of Rib Mountain and Marathon County and take any questions you might have about this unique geologic formation in our backyard. Weather permitting, we will take a walking tour.
Sponsored by the Friends of Rib Mountain State Park, there is no fee for the program however vehicle admission fees are required. Meet in the Amphitheater – in case of rain we will move to the new Friends Gathering Space building near the park Ranger Station.
